Drawing on her extensive experience practicing human rights, labour and employment law, Mihad Fahmy is also pleased to offer practical consulting services to a wide spectrum of organizations, from not-for profits, to employers of all size, to unions and charitable organizations. One thing all of these organizations share is their legal obligations to their members, employees and volunteers under the Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. This involves for example, having up to date and enforceable anti-discrimination, accommodation and workplace harassment and violence policies.

Rather than use cookie cutter policies that don’t take into consideration the unique context of your organization, Mihad will take the time to understand your particular dynamics, and draft policies that are both legally compliant and practically enforceable.

Mihad Fahmy also offers training, professional development and writing services on a range of labour and human rights related issues including the duty to accommodate, workplace harassment, disability rights and freedom of religion.

Legal coaching is a service that Mihad is particularly passionate about because of its potential in broadening and facilitating access to justice for self-represented litigants. For example, filing a Human Rights Application and representing oneself before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario can be daunting. Legal coaching allows the client to be supported and mentored behind the scenes in a way that better and equips and empowers them. Mihad can assist in drafting complaints and submissions, provide guidance on how to conduct oneself at a hearing, and offer strategic advice and support along the way as to how to meet one’s goals. The range and extent of possible coaching services is vast, and will ultimately depend on the particular needs of the client.

Mihad also assists individuals who have filed complaints under their employer or organization’s harassment policy, or who themselves, have had a complaint filed against them. Mihad provides practical support and representation to both such employees with respect to their participation in the Workplace Investigation process.
